Due to the rapid development of the global climate change and urbanization, the summer heat waves occure more and more frequenty, causing serious impact on the ecological environment and human health. This paper discussed the influence of heat waves in Nanjing city to elderly people based on the method of statistical, epidemiology and animal toxicological test methods to research on high temperature heat affect each sensitivity index in the elderly mice.According to the analysis of various indicators and study to investigate the effecting mechanism of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease,.The main conclusions were as follows:(1)Nanjing was undergoing an aging society due to≥65years old population more than 7%(8.84%,8.91%,8.98%,9.05%) in 2005-2008,so Nanjing city is in aging society. The average number of death was larger male mortality than female during the summer. The excess mortality in the elderly people is average of 15.91% in the heat process. In generalized additive model, the temperature at the same time, humidity, air pressure, wind speed change can increase the risk of death in the elderly. The maximum temperature rise per 1℃,the elderly are at increased risk of death 26.6%.In the hysteresis model, the relative risk values of elderly people were mainly affected by the maximum temperature of the lagl,lag4 and lag6 days, the greatest impactis the lag4 days.In threshold value analysis, the elderly deaths over the threshold value of the average temperature is 29 ℃.(2)Body weight had increased slightly by the end of the experiment while rectal temperature rose significantly during the process of heat wave. In the meantime, heat wave could induce the increase of plasma TNF, sICAM-1 and heart HSP60, HIF-1α as well as induce the desease of the activity of heart SOD to regulate animal’s autoimmunity, inflammation, oxidative balance and angiogenesis, which might be the reason to explain the higher occurrence of CVD during heat wave.(3) Mice given BH4 had higher NO and SOD activity levels, and lower temperature, HSP60, TNF, sICAM-1, HIF-1α levels, indicating that BH4 could promote airframe’s heat-dissipating efficiency and weaken the heat stress. It could be concluded that BH4 can reduce the expression of HSP60 and alleviate the effect of heat wave on levels of SOD activity, TNF, sICAM-1 and HIF-la in mice, so that it can mitigate the harm of heat wave. It was clear that taking BH4 could help to take precautions against CVD and remit its development.
