Objective To investigate the patient adherence to drugs for Crohn’s disease (CD) in China and its influencing factors.Method A total of130CD patients were recruited in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospitalfrom November2013to April2014. Six patients were excluded due to lack of intact information. Eventually124completed this survey. All of them were required to fill out the questionnaires, including general information, Drug Adherence Questionnaire and Medical Coping Mode Questionnaire (MCMQ). Morisky self-reported adherence questionnaire (MAQ) and MCMQwere applied in this study. A specialized IBD nurse conducted the questionnaire to patients. Epidemiological and clinical characters, adherence to drugs and Medical Coping Mode were summarized, compared and influencing factors were further analyzed with SPSS16.0. In detail, Epidemiological and clinical characters were analyzed with X test. Influencing factors of adherence to drugs were analyzed with logistic regression. Influencing factors of Medical Coping Mode were analyzed with linear regression. The comparison of Medical Coping Mode and adherence to drugs were analyzed with t test. P<0.05was regarded as statistically significant. Results A total of124CD patients completed the survey, including74male (59.68%) and50female (40.32%).The questionnaire showed that39(31.5%) patients had good drug compliance, while others had poor drug compliance. These two groups were significantly different in age, gender, educational level, and complications (P<0.05). However, occupation, reproductive status, income, smoking, disease duration, nursing health education and current medication were similar between the two groups (P>0.05). For MCMQ results, patients with poor drug compliance had higher scores in resignation coping styles confronce (P<0.05), but confronce, avoidance coping style was not statistically significant between the two groups. Conclusion The study shows that the medical coping modes in the patients with CD tend to avoid and yield, with a poor overall level of drug compliance. The study also found that young, male and high degree of education are independent factors with drug compliance in CD patients. To improve the response way of CD patients to the disease and to strengthen the professional nurse health education could improve the drug compliance, effective control or alleviate the condition, therefore to improve the quality of life of the patients.
