OBJECTIVEThe aims of the study were to investigate the changes of leg length after total hip arthroplasty and its influence factors.METHODSIn the study,840patients treated with total hip arthxoplast from March2008to November2013were recruited. Questionnaire survey and clinical examination (including retained from the length of the femur, femoral prosthesis after implantation depth, postoperative hip rotation center height, the chosen prosthesis and postoperative femoral neck length eccentric moments) were used to collect the information of patients. The descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the changes of leg length after total hip arthroplasty, and the logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of the leg length discrepancy after total hip arthroplasty.RESULTSThe mean leg length difference after total hip arthroplasty of840patients was0.64±1.72mm. The patients whose postoperative lower limbs were completely equal length accounted for11.8%of all the patients. The patients whose postoperative leg length difference was1-5mm accounted for35.2%of all the patients. The patients whose postoperative leg length difference was6-10mm accounted for36.8%of all the patients. The patients whose leg length difference was larger than10mm accounted for16.2%of all the patients. The difference between postoperative leg length difference and the patient’s Harris scores showed a significant negative correlation. The logistic regression results indicated that the influencing factors of the leg length discrepancy after total hip arthroplasty were retained from the length of the femur, postoperative hip rotation center height, and postoperative femoral prosthesis implantation depth.CONCLUSIONSThe risk of double-leg length discrepancy after total hip arthroplasty was lew, and the risk factors of the leg length discrepancy after total hip arthroplasty were retained from the length of the femur, postoperative hip rotation center height, and postoperative femoral prosthesis implantation depth and so on.
