Objective:Discuss the prevention measures and the factor caused leg lengthdiscrepancy following total hip arthroplasty by investigate the limb length afterTHA.Hoping to reduce the incidence of LLD after THA and improve the satisfaction of thesurgery patients.Methods:Select26cases of medical records of the patients who go under THA inShandong Provincial Hospital from September2013to February2014. Of which11malesand15females, aged30-80years, mean58.1years old,17cases of avascular necrosis,3cases of congenital hip dysplasia,6cases of secondary hip osteoarthritis. We shoot X-rayof anteroposterior hip preoperatively, and measure limb length discrepancy beforesurgery. And the26cases were divided into two groups: leg length is equally (difference inlength≤1cm), leg length not equally (difference in length>1cm). Using statisticalsoftware for data correlation test. Results:Among the26cases of patients,6cases whose lower-limbs’discrepancy were0mm,18cases whose lower-limbs’discrepancy were less than1cm,and3cases were morethan1cm.No patient had claudication in addition to the one whose lower limbs’discrepancyat2cm. Statistical analysis considers the degree of LLD after THA,Harris score, the lengthof the calcar femorale reserved, the distance of acetabulum rotating center and teardropcable were statistically significant. Conclusion:Preoperative template measurements carefully, reconstructing correctacetabulum rotating center, precising extent of the femur from the osteotomy, integrateduse of leg length balance method can effectively prevent the occurrence of LLD, The main factors that affected limb length after THA are the length of the calcar femorale reservedand the distance of acetabulum rotating center and teardrop cable.
