| Objective:The aim of this study was to explore the impact of different irrigation fluid temperature onpostoperative bladder spasm and bleeding in elderly patients after transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP).The result can serve as guideline for nursing after transurethral resection of the prostate in elderlypatients. Methods: The study was a randomized and paired clinical trial. Ninety four elderly patients scheduled forTURP after epidural anesthesia were randomly divided into two groups. All patients were from departmentof urology, the first affiliated hospital of the medical college of Shihezi university. Continuous bladderirrigation was provided for both groups after patients were returned to the ward. The patients in theexperimental group received continuous bladder irrigation with liquid of35℃~37℃,while the patients inthe control group received continuous bladder irrigation with liquid of25℃~29℃.The incidence ofbladder spasm and catheter obstruction, the number of bladder spasm, symptoms scores, the total time andvolume of irrigation fluid were recorded and compared between the two groups. Results: The average rate of bladder spasm of the two groups was36.2%. The rate of bladder spasm was24.4%in the experimental group and46.9%in the control group. There was significant difference betweenthe two groups (χ2=5.141,P=0.023). The number of bladder spasm was1~2in the experimental group and2~10in the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (Z=-3.645,P=0.000),but there was little difference in symptoms scores between the two groups (Z=-1.755,P=0.079). The rateof catheter obstruction was8.9%in the experimental group and28.6%in the control group. There wassignificant difference between the two groups (χ2=5.870,P=0.031).The total time and volume of irrigationfluid were64~70.5h and24~52L in the experimental group,while68.5~92L and30~69L in the controlgroup. There was significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05).Conclusion:The average rate of bladder spasm of the two groups in elderly patients after TURP was36.2%.For the elderly patients after TURP received continuous bladder irrigation, the liquid of35℃~37℃can be more effective to reduce the incidence of bladder, the number of bladder spasm and lowerpostoperative bleeding, and thus improve the patient’s comfort, reduce complications, and promote thepatients’health. |
