ObjectiveTo study the expression of her-2/neu gene in gastric cancer tissues, it was detected with immunohistochemistry. The relationship between her-2/neu gene expression and the clinicopathological indices, the prognosis of gastric cancer patients was also studied in our research. So we could learn the expression pattern of her-2/neu gene in the progress of gastric cancer and the effect to the prognosis.Method342gastric cancer tissues paraffin were detected with immunohistochemistry SP, which collected in Tianjin Medical University General Hospital from Jan.2004to Dec.2009. The relationship between the expression of her-2/neu gene and many indicators was analyzed statistically, such as gender, age, tumor size, histological type, differentiation, invasion, lymph node metastasis, distant metastasis, clinical stage and survival time.Results1.90tissue samples were positive in her-2/neu gene expression, and the positive ratio is26.32%.2. The expression of her-2/neu gene in different groups of gender, age, tumor size, histological type, histological grade and depth of invasion was no significant difference (P>0.05). However, the expression of her-2/neu gene in different groups of lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis was statistically significant difference (P<0.05).3. The survival time of Her-2/neu positive gastric cancer patients was significantly prolonged than the time of Her-2/neu negative gastric cancer patients (P<0.05). 4. The expression of her-2/neu gene in gastric cancer was independent prognostic factors of gastric cancer. In addition to the lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis, the expression of her-2/neu gene in gastric cancer is still one of the important factors in the prognosis.Conclusion1. The her-2/neu gene could express in26.32%of the gastric cancer tissues.2. The high expression of her-2/neu gene is closely related with lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis in the progress of gastric cancer.3. The expression of her-2/neu gene could be used as an important indicator to evaluate prognosis of gastric cancer.4. Her-2/neu gene could be used as a molecular targeting in the treatment of gastric cancer.
