Objective: To observe the clinical effect of extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) in thetreatment of delayed union and nonunion of fractures.Methods:29patients with fractures of nonunion and delayed union after receiving theoperations of open reduction and internal fixation, including8in thighbone,16in radiusbone,21in thin bone and5in humerus, were treated by ESW with the MZ ESWL-Ⅵ ESWtherapy apparatus produced by Shenzhen Wikkon,6times one course.Results: Througn abserving the condition of fracture healing4weeks,8weeks and16weeks respectively after the treatment,29patients only need to do follow-up examinations.23ones among the29witnessed good fracture healing after6-week ESW treatment, and theother2received the second course of treatment two months later,1of which were healed.Thus, the treatments of21patients among24achieved excellent results and the cure ratereached about87.50%;.1of the unhealed6petients incurred local edema. No complicationssuch as nerve and vascular injuries occurred during the treatments.Conclusion: ESW has curative and satisfactory clinical effect in treating bone nonuionand delayed union of fractures, and advantages including minimal invasion, economy,convenience and fewer complications. |
