Objectives:To analyse of the effect of two kinds of Kirschner wire fixation in thetreatment of humeral supracondylar fracture in children and to provide the basis for thechoice of surgical procedure. Methods:Patients with humeral supracondylar fracture treated with Kirschner wire fromAug2012to Aug2014in the First Hospital of Jilin University were reviewed and analyzed.Devide these patients in two groups according to the treatment. In Group A (108cases),thepatients were treated with two crossed pins. In Group B(96cases) were treated with twolateral pins. Do statistical analysis according to the the messages of these patients. Themean follow-up duration was13.2months(rang6-24months).The main outcome measures:the age of the patients, operative time, hospital stay, fracture union time, Flynn grade andcomplications. Using SPSS17.0software to do statistical analysis of data.Results:1、The Group A, the rate of ulnar nerve injury:8.33%(9/108);The Group B,the rate of ulnar nerve injury1.04%(1/96).There were statistically significant(p<0.05)differences in the rate of ulnar nerve injury. The group B was better than Group A in thisaspect.2、The Group A,loss reduction rate:2.78%(3/108);The Group B,loss reductionrate:8.33%(8/96).There were no statistically significant(p>0.05) differences in lossreduction rate.3、 There were no significant differences between the two groups in the ageof the patients, operative time, hospital stay, fracture union time, Flynn grade, the rate ofcubitus varus and the rate of pin tract infection.Conclusion:1、Two groups achieved satisfied clinical efficacy.2、Lateral entry pin fixationon the supracondylar fractures can provide enough stability but low the rate of iatrogeniculnar nerve injury.3、If necessary,we can choose three lateral Kirschner wire fixation toincrease the stability and effectively reduce the rate of ulnar nerve injury.
