Objective:To study the clinical and pathological features of trichoblastoma, pilomatricoma and trichoepithelioma, looking for differences and contacts among the three.Method:Clinical data and pathological findings of patients with trichoblastoma, pilomatricoma and trichoepithelioma in recent14years in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Result:The majority of patients had single lesions, similar proportions of men and women of the three, is1:1.3-1.5; The average age at onset of pilomatricoma is28.6years old, the peak is11to30years old. The average age at onset of trichoepithelioma and trichoblastoma is about49years old; Their predilection sites are head and face. Preoperative misdiagnosis rate is100%. One trichoblastoma case were pathologically diagnosed to have malignant tendency. Conclusion:Trichoblastoma, pilomatricoma and trichoepithelioma are benign neoplasms arising from the hair follicle. They are easy to misdiagnose with each other and the pathological diagnosis is occasionally controversial. The preoperative diagnostic accuracy should be improved to make a definitive pathological diagnosis. A very few of trichoblastoma may undergo malignant transformation. For those skin masses with unclear diagnosis, complete surgical excision and pathological examination of the tumor is recommended, in case of recurrence and malignant transformation.
