Objective To explore the expression of erythropoietin hepatocyte receptor(EphA2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in ascites of patientswith ovarian cancer and their relationship. The correlation between these twobiomarkers and clinicopathologic features is analyzed respectively. Finally, Tofind if there is a possibility that EphA2may be a prognostic indicator for thepatients or a promising therapeutic target for ovarian cancer. Methods the ascites of ovarian cancer patients in the department of oncology atthe First Affiliated Hospital of PLA from January2011to April2013werecollected before chemotherapy. the ages ranged from32to60years old. Theparticles of ascites were removed by centrifuge at the speed of4000r/min. theseparated supernatants were packed and storage at-20℃.Before detection, thesamples were melted on ice. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) wasused to detect the levels of EphA2and VEGF and their correlation withclinicopathologic features were analyzed.Result There was a positive correlation between the expression of EphA2andVEGF (P<0.05). The expression of EphA2and VEGF were associated withclinical stage, differentiation and metastasis(all P<0.05),but had no correlationwith age(P>0.05).Conclusion EphA2and VEGF may interact with each other in the generation ofascites of ovarian cancer, and are valuable in assessment of the development, treatment and prognosis of ovarian cancer.
