Objective To investigate expression and prognostic significance of inhibitor of growth familymember4(ING4) and tail-type homeobox transcription factor2(CDX2) in colorectal cancer. The purpose of our research is to analyze the expression of ING4, CDX2and their clinicalpathological features in colorectal cancer, and to explore their relationship with the prognosisof colorectal cancer. and to provided the evidence of diagnoising, curing and prognosticmgaspects. Methods The expressions of ING4and CDX2proteins were detected byimmunohistochcmistny in99tissue samples of colorectal cancer and30correspondingpapa-cancerous normal tissue samples. The data of clinic outcomes were collected. Thecorrelations between the expressions of ING4and CDX2and clinicopathological parameterswere also analyzed. Results The positive expression rates of ING4and CDX2were68.8%and72.7%in the colorectal cancer tissues, which were significantly lower than those ofcorresponding normal samples (93.3%and96.7%,p<0.05). There were significantdifferences in the differentiation, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and tumor stagebetween expressions of ING4and CDX2(P<0.05). The5-year survival rate was significantlylower in ING4negative group (35.5%) compared with that of ING4positive group (77.9%).The5-year survival rate was significantly lower in CDX2negative group (48.1%) than that ofCDX2positive group (70.8%, P<0.05). The expression of ING4was positively correlatedwith the expression of CDX2in colorectal cancer. Conclusion The expressions of ING4and CDX2are strongly associated with the carcinogenesis, development and prognosis of thecolorectal cancer, which indicates that ING4and CDX2might he used as prognostic markersfor the colorectal cancer.
