Objective:To research expression of VE-cadherin and N-cadherin,and its correlation with glioma characteristicsin in glioma.To explore their role in the development of glioma, and provide a theoretical basis for gliomas molecular therapy. Methods:①65cases of glioma specimens confirmed by operation resection and pathology in the Neurosurgery Department of the affiliated hospital of LuZhou Medical College from2011.1to2013.1were choosed, all patients had a good health.Another18cases of normal brain tissue were choosed as comparison, patients of which were all from those who had accepted internal and external decompression for head trauma before.②All specimens stained by HE first,immunohistochemical technique would be adopted secondly, and then classify the glioma by WHO2007standards.③Immunohistochemical staining would be used to test VE-cadherin and N-cadherin in the glioma tissue and normal brain tissue.④To analyze the positive degree of target indicator in normal brain tissue and glioma, classify the positive indexes of indicator.⑤To analyze the expression of two indicator on four scales:indicator in normal brain tissue and glioma; indicator in normal brain tissue and different level groups of glioma; indicator in different pathological types; indicator in glioma of varying degrees of peritumoral edema, then did statistical analysis.Results:①The significant difference existed between the expression of VE-cadherin in glioma and in normal brain tissue (Z=-3.640; P=0.000<0.005),and the expression of VE-cadherin in glioma was higher than in normal brain tissue.②There were significant differences among the expressions of VE-cadherin in normal brain tissue. glioma of grade Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ and Ⅳ (x2=22.181, P=0.000<0.05).The positive correlation existed between the expression degree of VE-cadherin and the glioma grades(rs=0.491, P:=0.000<0.05).③VE-cadherin expressions were not statistically different between different pathological types of glioma (x2=11.289, P=0.126>0.005).④There were significant differences among the expression of VE-cadherin in the peritumoral edema of no edema、slightly edema, moderate edema and severe edema (x2==21.257, P=0.000<0.008).The positive correlation existed between the expression degree of VE-cadherin and the peritumoral edema grades (rs=0.504, P=0.000<0.05).⑤he significant difference existed between the expression of N-cadherin in glioma and in normal brain tissue (Z=-4.320, P=0.000<0.05),and the expression of N-cadherin in glioma was higher than in normal brain tissue.⑥There were significant differences among the expressions of N-cadherin in normal brain tissue. glioma of grade Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ、and Ⅳ (x2=35.246, P=0.000<0.05).The positive correlation existed between the expression degree of N-cadherin and the glioma grades(rs=0.614,P=0.000<0.05).⑦N-cadherin expressions were not statistically different between different pathological types of glioma (x2=11.958, P=0.102>0.05).⑧There were significant differences among the expression of N-cadherin in the peritumoral edema of no edema、slightly edema^moderate edema and severe edema (x2=17.440,P=0.001<0.05),The positive correlation existed between the expression degree of N-cadherin and the peritumoral edema grades (rs=0.454, P=0.000<0.05).⑨The positive correlation existed between the expression of VE-cadherin and N-cadherin in glioma (rs=0.206, P=0.018<0.05).Conclusion:①The significant differences existed between the expression of VE-cadherin or N-cadherin in glioma and in normal brain tissue.Both the expression of VE-cadherin and N-cadherin in glioma tissue were higher than that in normal brain tissue,and increased with the grade of glioma increased, it prompts that VE-cadherin and N-cadherin may involve in the genesis and development of glioma and influent the degree of malignant glioma.②The expressions of VE-cadherin and N-cadherin were not statistically different between different pathological types in glioma. it prompts that VE-cadherin and N-cadherin may be nothing to do with the pathological type of glioma,and it possibly caused by the small sample or selection bias,which need to further research.③The research for the expression of VE-cadherin and N-cadherin in glioma with different degree peritumoral edema found that the more serious peritumoral edema,the more obvious expression,it prompts that VE-cadherin and N-cadherin may involve in the development of peritumoral edema in glioma and make the aggravation of glioma patients.④The research for the correlation of VE-cadherin and N-cadherin in glioma found the positive correlation existed between VE-cadherin and N-cadherin in glioma.Both VE-cadherin and N-cadherin may together facilitate angiogenesis of glio ma,and influence the genesis and. development of glioma.
