| This paper summarizes and analyzes the low back pain discussed in Huangdi Neijing,including its etiology and pathogenesis, dialectical theory of governance, and acupuncturepoint selection, in order to improve the acupuncture theory for the treatment of back painand provide further reference for the clinical practice.Neijing talked various syndromes related to low back pain, so it can serve as aclinical reference and identification. It also gives detailed exposition in etiology andpathogenesis，cardinal and accompanied symptoms, and acupuncture methods. The onsetof low back pain has significant corelation with time, space, physique, social environmentand even Five elements’ motion and Six kinds of natural factors. Therefore, the therapeuticmethod should depend on these different factors. In viscera,kidney has closely relationshipwith lumbago but the other viscera and lumbago have a direct correlation more or less; inmeridians and collaterals,the closest relationship with the lumbar bladder---the kidneymeridian,muscles along meridian, collateral, governor vessel, themself meridians,liverMeridian,Conception Vessel,thoroughfare vessel, yang link vessel, belt vessel. In additionto liver meridian, it has an important effect on the occurrence of cold and dampnesslumbago, while the six exogenous pathogenic factors often heterozygous and commondisease.
