Infectious endophthalmitis is the most serious complication following cataract surgery. Improper handling after the operation may cause low vision, light feeling, and serious consequence like removal of the eyeball.Correct understanding and active prevention of infectious endophthalmitis is very important in the case of cataract surgery. In the past a lot of studies have shown that pathogenic microorganism is the main pathogen of infectious endophthalmitis after it comes in contact within the eyelid and conjunctival sac. Following the surgical incision, the pathogenic microorganism enters into the aqueous humor and vitreous. Vitreous being a good culture medium for microbes, in a short period of time a large number of microbes are produced which can cause serious damage to the eyes after the surgery.By preoperative flushing with PVP-i in the lower eyelid and conjunctival sac, the number of colonies can be effectively reduced and the occurrence of postoperative infectious endophthalmitis.Povidone iodine (povidone-iodine PVP-I) can quickly release free hydrated bactericidal effect of iodine. It has good solubility in water and is soluble in most organic solvents. It has low toxicity and good biological compatibility, and is carrier of iodine to the cell membrane. After in contact with the cell wall, release of free iodine quickly produces cytotoxic effect to kill prokaryotes. Complex continuous release of free iodine is available until it runs out.Study objective This research mainly focuses on the detection of microbial species in the conjunctival sac in cataract surgery. To use 3 different concentrations of PVP-i on 4 kinds of pathogenic microorganisms for disinfection and choose the best effect under different time period or relatively the best optimum combination. In the case of informed consent prepared for the human eye; subjective and objective evaluation of different combination, the extent of the adverse reactions caused in the eye, the significance lying in the understanding of eye surgery, to choose the appropriate concentration of PVP-i for preoperative disinfection of the conjunctival sac and security role after hours, trying to find out most satisfied disinfection effect. good adaptability to patients, postoperative adverse reactions of cataract surgery using the method of povidone iodine. To provide solution or ideas about ocular surface trying to kill pathogenic microorganisms, the decrease of disinfectant for patients with ocular surface stimulation, prevent corneal damage, postoperative infectious endophthalmitis with dry eyes and other adverse reactions.Consequence (1) before cataract surgery pathogenic microorganisms in the conjunctival sac appraisal results:In 80 cases, monocular pathogenic microorganisms found in 14 eyes, accounted for 17.5%. monocular checked out at the same time two kinds of bacteria are found in 2 cases, total 16 cultivate bacteria, a total of 9 kinds of bacteria of the genus belong to four.(2) under the different combination of bactericidal effect:the same combination of bactericidal effect of different bacteria showed similar; The same bacteria in different povidone iodine concentration but positively related to the duration show under the same concentration:The same bacteria in the same concentration but different duration cases showed positive correlation time.Summing-up This experiment design,0.5% PVP -i solution effect 30 seconds of conjunctival sac common standards of 4 kinds of bacteria strains isolated in killing effect is best.
