Objective: Through large-scale population survey, get the adiposity rebound age and do comparison between different ethnic and gender of children, investigate the prevalence of obesity of children in Xinjiang, discuss the impact factors of children’s overweight /obesity, to provide scientific basis for developing intervention strategies of childhood obesity. Methods: Using random cluster sampling, investigation on the physical development of children aged 3~10 years in four area of Xinjiang, Through the curve fitting, get the adiposity rebound age of different ethnics and gender, describe the detection rate of childhood overweight/ obesity, compare the detection rate of obesity in different ethnics, different gender; confirmed 772 cases of overweight and 269 cases of obese children, according to the 1:1 of normal weight children, the same gender, ethnic, same age, through the questionnaire survey, obtain the general family status, factors of perinatal period, life style and so on, the application of SPSS15.0 software is used to do statistical description and the conditional Logistic regression analysis. Results: This investigation a total of 5992 people, including 3180 boys, 2812 girls, 1899 Uygur, Han 2385, Kazak 1708.The adiposity rebound age was 4.80 years old, the adiposity rebound age of boys was 4.95 years old, the adiposity rebound age of girls was5.49 years old; the adiposity rebound age of Uygur is 6.345 years old, the adiposity rebound age of Han is 4.28 years old, the adiposity rebound age of Kazak is 5.88 years old. The detection rate of overweight was 12.9%, the detection rate of obesity was 4.5%;Boy overweight/obesity detection rate in the overall level was significantly higher than girls(c2=21.569,P<0.001);The rate of different ethnic children overweight and obesity detection has difference statistical significance(c2=64.289,P<0.001), the detection rate of overweight of Kazak was the highest(16.9%), the detection rate of obesity of Han was the highest(4.9%).Obesity detection rate of 6~ years old age is up to 6.3%; Single factor andmultifactor conditional Logistic regression analysis showed that mother’s level of education(OR = 0.619), maternal obesity(OR = 1.978), the father of obesity(OR = 1.997),high family income(OR = 2.628), low birth weight(OR = 0.522), and other exposures factors were the impact factors of children overweight/obesity.Conclusion: Adiposity rebound age is an important indicator of a prediction of the trend of obesity in children in the future, the investigation group of children adiposity rebound age is earlier, adiposity rebound age of boys is earlier than girls, adiposity rebound age of Han occurred earlier than other two ethnic children. The detection rate of boys of obesity is higher than girls. The detection rate of overweight / obesity of Han is the highest. The study also found that the highest detection rate of Kazak children overweight, has more than children of Han nationality, so attention should be paid to the physical development of Kazak in overweight children and health intervention, its development into obesity prevention. The impact factors of overweight / obesity are the parents BMI, parents level education and occupation, family income, mode of delivery, birth weight of children. Therefore, parents should pay more attention to the risk factors of children’s overweight /obesity, do early prevention work, so as to control the occurrence of adult obesity and related metabolic diseases.
