Cupping is a treatment using different type of jar to work on the skin of human body. It can stimulate acupuncture point and extract pus, by eliminating the air inside and absorbing itself on the skin under a negative pressure. Through the exploration of the origin of cupping, we can found it recorded in many places, such as Ancient India, Ancient Greek and Ancient China.Cupping may be developed independently in these areas, and it can probable formed in one place and then spread to the other regions. It can confirm that the exact origins of the Japanese cupping is from China firstly, and then from Netherlands. Chinese cupping, although is an unique therapy that has its own national characteristics, it may come from India initially. There is also possibility of disseminate of Cupping between ancient Egypt, ancient India and ancient Greece.Based on the compilation and analysis of available information it can be learned, and the data of cupping therapy in each times, this article sort out the evolution of cupping therapy. It includes the condition of the tool, the operating techniques and the indications of the Cupping therapy. This article explains the principle in the view of both traditional medicine and modern medicine. I discussed the subjective and objective factors that influenced the development of cupping therapy, and forecasted its development prospects in the future based on these factors.
