BackgroundJob satisfaction is the degree about one’s like of his/her work. Researches have shown that turnover intention was negatively related to job satisfaction and job satisfaction could affect patient satisfaction. In the 1980s the foreigners combined hospital management with job satisfaction survey.but in our country it is in early twenty-first Century to began to focus on the job satisfaction of medical personnel. Now, there are many domestic researches about three grade hospitals and nurses job satisfaction, but is very little research about general practitioner(GP).ObjectiveThe purpose of this study is to understand job satisfaction degree of young and middle-aged GP in community health service center and then compare it with job satisfaction of young and middle-aged specialist doctor in three grade hospital,in order to provide information for designing effective motivational programs and to improve the satisfaction degree of GP, enhance quality of medical service and better GP management. In addition, preliminary understanding general medical training students’ job satisfaction and its influencing factors.Object and methodsUsing the short form of the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire(MSQ) to survey 206 GPs,140 specialist doctors and 47 training students.After data entry adopting SPSS 19.0 statistical software for statistical processing and using statistical description, analysis of variance, multiple linear regression to process the data.ResultGeneral satisfaction score of GP is 68.89±9.71 and the most unsatisfaction aspects including compensation, promotion and unit policy making and implement. Overall between GPs the satisfaction has no obvious difference。 General satisfaction score of specialist doctor is 72.00±7.20 and it significantly higher than the satisfaction of GP(P<0.01). General satisfaction score of training student is 66.13±6.31, and the internal satisfaction of training student is significantly lower than GP(P<0.01).ConclusionOverall job satisfaction degree of young and middle-aged GP in community health service center is not high, and they are unsatisfied with the work reward most. Satisfaction of GP is significantly lower than specialist doctor, and social status、 remuneration、working conditions and achievement is the mean factors lead to the difference of job satisfaction between GP and specialist doctor. From the "people-oriented" management strategy we can improve the job satisfaction and work enthusiasm of GP by improving their social status、remuneration、working conditions and personal achievement.Generally the job satisfaction degree of general medical training student is low, and they are unsatisfied the work paid most. Their satisfaction of independence、 stability、authority and creation is lower than GP,so these factors need to be improved in the process of train.
