Objective: To systematically evaluate the effectiveness and security of the treatment of Parkinson’s disease with combining traditional Chinese with western medicine. Methods: to search the Medline、EMbase、PubMed、D PuZhongWen science and technology periodical database 、 Ten thousand database 、 Tsinghua tongfang CNKI database、The CBM database by computer and aid the searching by artificial retrieval. The retrieval deadline should be limited to December, 2014. Two evaluators shall value the quality of the document independently, and if there is any disagreement, it should be evaluated by a third evalutor, and its result should be concluded by discussion. Finally the application research on homogeneous RevMan 5.0 software for Meta analysis should be analysed. Results: 18 RCT and CCT were included, and 1504 cases studied. The experimental group(TCM+western medicine group) includes 756 cases, the Control group(western medicine or western medicine plus placebo group) includes 748 cases. The Jadad score display showed that three studies scored 7 points, and two studies scored 5 points, and both are high quality; the rest are under 3 or 3 points and low quality. Meta analysi showed:(1) the total effective rate: Webster points rate compared with the relative risk of RR(95% CI) 1.22 [1.09,1.36], P=0.0005, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant.UPDRS deducted rate compared with the relative risk of RR(95% CI) 1.38 [1.27,1.51], P<0.00001, differences between the two groups have statistical significance.(2) the UPDRS score: the experimental group UPDRS total score and the Ⅱ, Ⅲ scores were significantly lower than the control group, two combinations and WMD(95% CI) were respectively-4.67(-5.94,-3.4),-1.16(-1.35,-0.98),-3.05CI=(-3.48,-2.63), differences were statistically significant, funnel figure shows right more than left little, assuming the skewness distribution, and the sex bias possibility was suggested.(3) the adverse reactions: the dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, insomnia and gastrointestinal reaction between the experimental group and the control group have comparatively significant difference. Conclusion: Combining traditional Chinese with western medicine for the treatment of Parkinson disease is safe and effective. Combining traditional Chinese with western medicine treatment may be superior to pure western medicine, but due to the limited number and part of the researching of the study sample quality is low, so more high-quality RCT studies are needed to confirm it.
