Objective: This study is to provide the reference for doctors of the relevant departments, through the retrospective evaluation of two operation methods of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy(PTED) and traditional fenestration discectomy(FD), and the comparison of recent curative effects in the treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods: 62 cases of single segmental lumbar disc herniation treated with percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy(PTED) or traditional fenestration discectomy(FD)by the Spinal Department Two of our hospital from March 2013 to March 2014 were selected. They were divided into the PTED group and FD group according to the operation method, and the related preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative indicators of two groups of patients were respectively recorded, including the age, sex, course of disease, lesion space, operation time, intraoperative bleeding volume, postoperative in-bed time, postoperative hospital stays, etc. The patients were visited regularly for pain VAS, ODI,before and after the operation, the two groups’ clinical effects were evaluated according to the modified Macnab standard, and the statistical analysis on the above results was performed. Results: The patients of two groups were followed up for 12 months, and the operation effect and postoperative situation for two groups of patients were compared. The differences in the operation incision length, bleeding volume, postoperative bed time, postoperative hospital stays for two groups of patients were of statistical significance, in which the PTED group was better than the FD group. The VAS and ODI for two groups were significantly improved after the operation, but the score difference between the two groups was of no statistical significance.. Evaluate the curative effect according to theMacNab standard: the good rate of PTED group was 93.3%, while the good rate of fenestration group was 90.6%, which could not illustrate the difference in the good rate between the two groups. Conclusion: PTED and FD group are safe and effective treatment of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion, in strictly grasp the operation indication, under the premise of mastering technology, PTED group has less intraoperative blood loss, surgical incision, small trauma, postoperative bed and shorten hospitalization time, quick recovery, does not affect the spinal stability, etc...
