BackgroundUnder the situation of new revolution in military affairs (RMA), special operations have become a major mode of fighting, and the medical support in specific battle environments is more and more valued. The condition of these environments is complex and diverse, which is including marine area, alpine area, and plateau area and so on. Because of the different characteristics of the environments, the open wound treatment has different requirements. At present, we have not yet dedicated treatment standards for specific battle environments, and the corresponding first aid equipment is also lack. The widely used equipment is triangle, and there are many defects and deficiencies. Our study project The Study of Multifunctional Liquid Adhesive Bandage and Related Devices for Specific Battle Environments (13cxzO32) is aim to solve this problem. This study is a part of the research contents of the project, and it is preliminary and exploratory research of multifunctional liquid adhesive bandage for specific battle environments.PurposeMaster the preliminary bacterial distribution situation of specific battle environments to provide guidance and basis for open wound treatment. Screen the antibacterial agents of multifunctional liquid adhesive bandage and test to determine the best antibacterial agent and proportion. Test some physical properties of multifunctional liquid adhesive bandage to provide experimental evidence for further development.Methods(1) According to the needs of our army, collect the relevant data of bacterial distribution in marine area, alpine area, plateau area, and common area, and summarize the characteristics of the bacteria distribution, unified analysis and deal with the relevant data, to establish the preliminary bacterial distribution databases of specific battle environments.(2) Select 4 kinds of representative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Vibrio alginolyticus) as the experimental strains, and test the antibacterial performance of triclosan and nano silver liquid adhesive bandage.(3) Use the plant fiber membrane sprayed with 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage as testing sample, the plant fiber membrane untreated as the control, test the antibacterial property, water resistance, heat preservation and burst strength of multifunctional liquid adhesive bandage.Results(1) Vibrio is the dominant bacteria in the sea, and Vibrio alginolyticus has the highest detection rate.(2) 4 kinds of bacteria which have the highest detection rate in land area are Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The detection rate of Escherichia coli is the highest in gram negative bacteria, and Staphylococcus aureus in gram positive bacteria. There are some differences in the distribution of bacteria in different areas (P<0.05), but these 4 kinds of bacteria all have the highest detection rate in these areas.(3) 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage has a good antibacterial performance to Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Vibrio alginolyticus (P<0.05).(4) 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage has good antibacterial property to Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and the inhibitory rates are all more than 99%.(5) Spraying 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage can significantly improve the water resistance of plant fiber membrane.(6) Spraying 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage can improve the heat preservation of plant fiber membrane.(7) Spraying 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage can significantly improve the burst strength of plant fiber membrane.Conclusions(1) The bacterial distribution in different area is different.(2) 5%TCL is an ideal antibacterial agent to prepare the multifunctional liquid adhesive bandage for Specific Battle Environments.(3) 5%TCL/CA liquid adhesive bandage has good antibacterial property (to Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli), water resistance, heat preservation and burst strength.(4) Use of multidisciplinary methods including nanotechnology and so on is a feasible method for development of multifunctional liquid adhesive bandage.
