Objectives:To investigate current status of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors about human papillomavirus(HPV) infection among vocational school students who came from a professional college in Hengyang city of Hunan province, and to analyze the main influent factors of vocational school students’ Knowledge, Attitude, Behaviors(KAP)" of HPV infection. To provide the scientific experimental basis for health education of HPV infection and cervical cancer prevention on vocational school students, the intervention way for HPV infection and its intervention effects were studied. Methods:On the basis of KAP theory, a questionnaire of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of vocational school students about HPV infection was designed. A total of 900 students, who were from a professional college in Hengyang city of Hunan province, were questioned with “Questionnaires of knowledge, attitude and behavior about human papillomavirus(HPV) infection among vocational school students”. The current status of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of the students for HPV infection were studied with cross-sectional way. EXCEL and SPSS 18.0 were used to analyze the data of 890 effective copies. By using the parallel control design and according to the intervention way for HPV infection in the professional college in Hengyang city, there were 465 students(from eight classes) were randomly divided into two groups as the intervention group(four classes, 234 students) and the control group(four classes, 231 students). Then the effects of KAP intervention of HPV infection on the intervention group were assessed by comparing before and after the intervention between the control group and the intervention group. T test, the single factor analysis of variance, multi-factor linear regression analysis and repeated measures analysis of variance were used in statistical analysis. Results:(1) Of 890 students, the average scores of KAP of HPV infection were 82.82±10.39. Among 154 students(17.30%) who had ever heard of HPV infection, their total scores of knowledge were a range of 23 to 45, the average score was 37.43±6.77; every correct rate for each question about HPV infection’s knowledge was under 50%; the total scores of attitude was a range of 21 to 32, the average score was 26.71±4.96; the total scores of behaviors was a range of 15 to 24, the average score was 19.53±3.53.(2)Among the students, the more their ages were, the less their scores of behaviors were; there were statistically significant among the different age groups(P<0.05), the score in the group of 14-19 years was the highest. The scores of knowledge and attitudes of HPV infection of the female students were obviously higher than those of the male students(P<0.05). The scores of behaviors of the students who lived in the rural regions were significantly higher than those who lived in city or town(P<0.05). The total score of KAP in the technical secondary school group was the highest, the following groups were respectively the sixth-form college liaison group, the three-year college group, and the five-year higher vocational group; meanwhile the scores of awareness and KAP in different educational group were statistically significant difference(P<0.05). The scores of behaviors in different academic achievement were statistically significant difference(P<0.05); the scores of behaviors increased significantly with the educational level increments of their fathers’ age(P<0.05); the scores of attitudes and behaviors of students in different educational level increments of their mothers’ age were statistically significant difference(P<0.05); The total scores of KAP in different sexual behaviors were statistically significant difference(P<0.05).(3) Before intervention, there was not significant difference for the demographic data and the scores of KAP of HPV infection between the intervention group and the control group. After intervention, the total scores and the scores of each dimension of KAP were statistically significant difference between the intervention group and the control group; and the total scores and the scores of each dimension of KAP were obviously higher than those before intervention in intervention group. Conclusions:(1)The total scores of KAP of HPV infection among the vocational college students are at the medium level.(2) The main influent factors for KAP of HPV infection among vocational college students involve age, gender, family residence, academic achievement, sexual behaviors, and etc.(3) By health education for the students in classroom at the vocational college, the level of their KAP of HPV infection can be enhanced and their attitude of HPV infection can be improved.
