| This article uses the nationwide data of CGSS(2010), studies the healthy immigrant effect and the effect of health depletion of the rural migrant workers in our country, and further studies of the mechanisms of health depletion. It finds three conclusions. First, the health of the rural migrant workers is better than the urban local staff, which confirms the healthy immigrant effect. Second, the rural migrant workers suffer more severe depletion of their health than the urban local staff with age increasing. Last, among all rural migrant workers, those who engaged in manufacturing, construction or other heavy manual work, and those who are across provinces, suffer more severe health depletion than other rural migrant workers. These findings mean that the rural migrant workers contribute their health to the development of the cities, especially those manufacturing or construction workers and those across-province workers. |
