Objective:To study the relation between the distribution of apolipoprotein E(apoE)genotypes and blood pressure in long-lived elderly in the Xin jiang Uighur people. Methods:Using polymerase chain reaction -restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP),the authors abtained date from normotensive group(n=107),hypertension group(n=37).Results:The apoE genotypes and the frequencies were no difference between hypertension patients and controls-The apoE E3/3 genotype had the highest frequeney,In normotensive group 76.60%,In hypertension group 64.90%.The alleles type and the frequencies were difference between hypertension patients and controls.the prevalence ofε4 allele were higher than those carrying other alleles. In hypertension group,The systolic blood pressure were difference between alleles type groups.individuals with the ε4 allele had a significantly higher systolic blood pressure than those carrying other alleles.Conclusio:The polymorphism of apo E gene and systolic blood pressure in long-lived elderly in the Xin jiang Uighur people were correlated.
