Objective:To investigate the endoscopic characteristics of the Han and the Uyghur patients with Melanosis Colon (MC),and analysis the relationship between MC and gender, age, race, colon polyps and colon malignant tumor in Xin-Jiang. Methods: Retrospectively analysis the dates of 851 cases of the Han and Uyghur patients with MC who were detected by colonoscopy between January 2006 to 2014,including gender, age, race, clinical manifestation, endoscopic, pathology examination and complications. Compared with non-MC patients over the same period. Results:There were 851 cases with MC (1.91%) found in 44568 Han and Uyghur nationality patients by colonoscopy, in which 472 patients were Han and 379 cases were Uyghur,264 cases were male and 587 cases were female, with an average age of 55.02±14.14 years old. Compared with patients without MC at the same time, older than 65 years old, female, Uighur are more likely to happen MC (P values< 0.001).593 cases of 851 cases had history of constipation in patients with MC, and 419 cases used a laxative, of which 315 cases used anthraquinone laxatives. The main clinical manifestations of MC is constipation, followed by abdominal pain and asymptomatic medical. In black lesion distribution, involving whole colon is the most(663 cases,77.91%),followed by sigmoid and rectum colon(79 cases,9.28%).From black lesion severity, severe melanosis occurs mainly in the transverse colon (89 cases,10.45%), followed by the junction of descending colon and sigmoid colon(71 cases, 8.34%), the degree of colon is generally lighter. In 851 MC patients, there are 179 cases combined with colon polyps and 24 cases with colon tumor. There is no statistical difference between MC and non-MC group(P value were 0.057,0.755). Conclusion:The elderly and women were susceptible to the MC disease, Uighurs in MC was higher than that of the Han nationality, suggested that heredity、race or regional diet habits may be another risk factors of MC.
