Objective:The purpose of this randomized clinical trial was to determine the effect of early enteral nutrition conbined with probiotic on lipid profile and high-sensitivity Creactive protein(hs-CRP) in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. Methods: Forty two patients admitted to the intensive care unit were randomly divided into treatment group (n=20) and control group (n=22), the control group received early enteral nutrition (Ruisu) within 24-48 h after ICU treatment, the treatment group received enteral nutrition support as the control group, but probiotic (Peifeikang, at adosage of 2 g three times dairy)was also given for 7 days.Serum levels of TQ total cholesterol, LDL-C and hs-CRP were measured before initiation of the study and on the 7th day. Results:There was a significant difference between two groups regarding the levels of T Q HDL-Cand hs-CRP at the end of the study (P<0.05); however, there was not a significant difference in total cholesterol and LDL-C levels(P>0.05). Conclusion:Enteral nutrition combined with probiotics in critically ill patients can regulate the levels of lipid profile, reduce systemic inflammatory response.
