Hypolipidemic effects and mechanism of different probiotic strains in hyperlipidemic hamsters have been researched through lipid-lowering, anti-atherosclerosis, etc.Healthy male hamsters were fed high-fat diet to create the hyperlipidemic animal model.Four different probiotic liquid were filled into stomach of hamsters sustained for six weeks. The content of TC,TG, HDL-C in serum was assayed per two weeks. The TC, TG, non-HDL-C and AI in serum could be decreased significantly in the hyperlipidemic hamsters by four probiotic strains. The HDL-C in serum could be increased. The ability of Lactobacillus rhamnosus reducing TG in serum was the strongest. The content of TG was184.98±8.83mg/dl. The abilities of Lactobacillus acidophilus as well as Lactobacillus rhamnosus reducing TC in serum were stronger than other probities. Their contents of TC were213.00±6.25mg/dl and211.04±6.07mg/dl. The abilities of Lactobacillus acidophilus reducing TC in liver and increasing TC in feces were the strongest. The contents of TC were45.28±1.66mg/g and8.08±0.66mg/g.The content of short-chain fatty acids in feces was tested through gas chromatography, the results show that the content of acetic acid and propionic acid in feces could be increased significantly by four probiotic strains, the content of butyric acid in feces could be increased significantly by Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus rhamnosus.Lipid metabolism in hamsters could be regulated effectively by four probiotic strains, lipid accumulation in the body could be reduced, and cholesterol level could be lowered through increasing the content of short-chain fatty acids to inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol. Evaluation of probiotics on the role of lipid peroxidation by assaying the content of lipid peroxidation products MDA in hamsters. It is showed that the content of MDA in liver could be inhibited by four four probiotic strains, lipid peroxidation levels in the body could be lowered, and the incidence of atherosclerosis could be prevented and reduced accordingly.HMG-CoA-R and LDL-R mRNA expression levels in hamster were detected by method of fluorescence real-time quantitative PCR. It was showed that HMG-CoA-R and LDL-R mRNA expression could be sharply increased by Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. So the cholesterol was decreased. The effect of four different probiotic strains on lipid metabolism in hamsters was compared and studied systematacially. The mechanism of probiotics on the regulation of lipid metabolism was probed and discussed. The theoretical basis was provided for deeply developing the effects of probiotic on benifitting human physiology.
