Objectives:Measurement on CT scan of the surgically relevant parameters of thoracolumbar pedicles between Han and Uygur male in XinJiang autonomous region.we want to provide some anatomic reference data for pedicle screw fixation during operating. Methods:The vertebral bodies and pedicles were scanned (60 cases of Han people,60 cases of Uygur people) from T10-L2 with CT.The parameters were processed by three-dimensional reconstruction. Transverse pedicle width (TPW),pedicle axis length(PAL), transverse pedicle angle(TPA), and sagittal pedicle angle(SPA) were measured by using length and angle measurement tool of browser in bone-window CT images.Record the age and stature information, all the data above were processed by the software of SPSS13.0. Results:The transverse pedicle width of T12 and L1 in Han should be bigger than that in the uygur. The transverse pedicle angle of T12 and L2 in Han should be bigger than that in the uygur. The pedicle axis length and sagittal pedicle angle of T12 and L2 in Han should be bigger than that in the uygur, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:There are some differences among some parameters of the thoracolumbar pedicles between the Han and Uygur people,Data from any study only can be used as a guide for pedicle screw fixation.Preoperative CT evaluation may provide a individualized strategy to reduce the incidence of postoperative complications which caused by misplacement.
