| Background: The incidence rate of intertrochanteric fracture in elderly people is on the rise,and the treatment effect of internal fixation can not always meet our expections,so it’s worthy of exploring a new treatment method for clinicians.Objective: To investigate the application of bipolar artificial femoral head replacement in the treatment of senile intertrochanteric fractures and assess the postoperative curative effect.Methods: From March,2004 to November,2014. 20 cases of senile femoral intertrochanteric fractures were treated with hemiarthroplasty in The First Affiliated Hospital of Scoohow University. The prosthetic materials are designed by the LINK company in German with good biocompatibility.Results and discussion: All the patients were followed up from 6 months-- 10 years and 2 months, the postoperative results were satisfactory. Patients could do activities out of bed early after the operations. They were able to return to normal life after the fractures as soon as possible. According to the HARRIS score, 18 cases of the patients showed excellent results, 2 cases showed good results, and none showed general or bad effects. The results showed that: The bipolar artificial femoral head replacements can significantly shorten the time in bed of the senile intertrochanteric fracture patients after operations.With this relatively safe and effective treatment method, patients can perform early functional exercises out of bed which brings good recovery.Conclusion: The treatment of bipolar artificial femoral head replacement in senile intertrochanteric fracture can bring definite curative effect. It can effectively avoid the failure of internal fixation operation and reduce the fixation failure or other complications.At the same time, the bipolar artificial femoral head replacement can obviously shorten the recovery period of the patient to make the fracture patients restore normal life as soon as possible which can bring high patient satisfaction. |
