| BackgroudBenign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BBPV) is a common clinical peripheral vertigo.It is often misdiagnosed as Meniere’s disease, vertebral basilar insufficiency or cervical vertigo. However, patients who went to the hospital because of dizziness, mostly are benign positional vertigo. The diagnosis of BBPV can easily be ignored by clinicians, but the treatment of BBPV is relatively clear. The position manoeuvre treatment is the mature treatment of BPPV, which is immediately effective. However, patients who have been treated by the position manoeuvre may have residual risky of dizziness, nausea, vomit, sweating, heart palpitations and other symptoms which can make trouble to the life and work of the suffering patients. Modern medicine has no treatment for such manifestations caused by autonomic dysfunction, and the suffering patients have to be self-healing without help. Study has found that but the BBPV patients with the residual dizziness, could have the risk of getting anxiety and depression. It is apparently to be the major flaw fo Western treamtment on BBPV, which also to be a good opportunity of Chinese medicine. Acupuncture, to be a special therapy of Chinese medicine, can clear the Qi and blood of the Bladder Meridian in the head in order to enhance the Qi of Yang, calming the patients, easing the sickness of dizzy and vomit,and to enhance the ability of the body’s own anti-motion sickness. Yun Tong Zhen is one kind of the Jin’s three needle technique which has a strong induction, brilliant selection of points, good efficacy, flexible features, and can get good effects in the clinical application of motion sickness, cervical vertigo, etc. In This study, we aim to observe the effects of Yun Tong Zhen on the patients with BBPV who have been treated by the position manoeuvre, thus promoting clinical application of Yun Tong Zhen.ObjectiveIn this study, we aim to observe the effects of Yun Tong Zhen on the patients with BBPV. We used the DHI to figure out the infulence on the life and work of the patients, thus to find a better therapy for BBPV.Methods 60 patients were randomly divided into a control group and treatment group. the control group was given a simple position manoeuvre, and treatment group, on the basis of the position manoeuvre, was given acupuncture therapy of Yun Tong Zhen and the differentiation acupoints Two groups of patients were observed by the Nystagmus efficacy after 15 days and 30 days of treatment. The DHI scores were also compared statistically to get the final conclusion.ResultsAfter two weeks of treatment, according to the nystagmus efficacy evaluation, there was no significant difference in total effective rate between the control group and the the control group (93.3% vs.90%, P>0.05,respectively). But the control group’s total score of DHI was 9.67±15.71 and the treatment group’s total score of DHI was 5.87 ±13.23,with the difference statistically significant(P<0.05). after one month of treatment, there was no significant difference in total effective rate between control group and treatment group. (96.7% vs.93.3%, P>0.05, respectively). the control group’s total score of DHI was 3.83±10.46 and the treatment group’s total score of DHI was 3.73± 10.33, with no difference statistically significant(P>0.05)ConclusionYun Tong Zhen combined with position manoeuvre can ease the dizziness and other manifestations of BBPV patients, significantly improving the quality of work and life. and in the case of efficacy, there is no significant difference compared with the simple position manoeuvre. |
