Heart disease is a common disease that serious damage to people’s life and health, especially to the elderly, and it is often life-threatening. In recent years, there is an upward trend in the incidence and mortality of heart disease, on the other hand, fall is one of the main reasons bring the elderly disability, death or heavy economic burden.In order to real-time monitor the elderly’s ECG and fall situation, this paper researches the ECG and fall detection technologies including ECG preprocessing, QRS complex detection and fall detection, ECG compression, ECG transmission. We also design a portable system based on Android platform to monitor ECG and falls.We choose median filter and low pass filter to remove ECG baseline drift, power frequency interference and the EMG, and difference threshold method and local transform method to detect QRS complex, the fall detection algorithm based on triaxial acceleration to monitor fall of the body through contrastive analysis.This paper proposes a new multilead ECG compression method based on wavelet domain PCA and layered coding inspired by wavelet threshold algorithm, considering the strong correlation of in-leads and between-leads ECG. We do PCA in wavelet domain in order to eliminate information redundancy between the lead, and use wavelet coefficient layered coding to eliminate in-lead information redundancy which can keep small loss when get a high compression ratio.In view of the existing ECG data transmission modes depend on the smooth general characteristic of the Internet, this paper puts forward a new kind of ECG signal transmission mode based on the WiFi Direct agreement, this system registrations service information and searches nearby devices, connects to others in private channels and transmits ECG data over TCP agreement, in this system, synchronous locking mechanism is used to solve the Owner’s thread synchronization problem of the IP receiving thread and the port assignment thread, and we design a kind of port allocation strategy to solve the communication port assignment problem of multiple group members. This system can form network and realize ECG signal transmission completely with no error in local area without Internet and router support. In addition, this paper expands WiFi Direct agreement’s application, designs a real-time communication system based on WiFi Direct agreement, and designs the buffer mechanism to solve the call interrupt phenomenon, it can realize real-time communication system with small delay. Finally, this paper designs and realizes the ECG and fall detection system based on Android smartphone, the system includes data collection and bluetooth transmission module, data processing and warn module based on Android platform, data transmission module. This paper designs a mechanism of data buffer and taking data twice to save the problem of sampling rate error, at the same time, for global threshold difference threshold method cannot be applied to the problem of real-time systems, we use local threshold instead of global threshold so that the algorithm can be applied to real-time system and can strengthen the waveform tracking ability. The system can detect ECG heart rate, ECG abnormalities and fall accurately.
