The Correlation Of Podoplanin And Twist1 Expression In Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinomas With Clinical Prognosis

bjective: Occurrence in patients of Esophageal squamous cell carcinomas(ESCC) with esophageal vascular tumor embolus affect the prognosis. Podoplanin and Twist has been confirmed play an important role in the process of tumor invasion and metastasis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of podoplanin and Twst expression. Methods : We using immunohistochemical method to detect podoplanin and twist1 expression in tumor tissue and vascular tumors embolus of 70 patients with ESCC, And select 70 cases of normal esophageal mucosa as control, Comparison the expression in normal esophageal tissue and in tumor tissues,analysis the relationship between protein expression and clinicopathologic parameters, includes vascular tumor embolus,Patients’ age, sex, tumor infiltration depth(T stage), the degree of tumor differentiation, lymph node metastasis and Disease-free survival.Results: Podoplanin positive expression significantly high in tumor tissues,and related to vascular tumor embolus and Diease-free surviva,but has no relativity with patients age,gender,tumor infiltration, differentiation degree and depth of invasion(P>0.05);Twist positive expression also significantly high in tumor tissues,but had no impact on disease-free survival in patients with ESCC,so does patients age and gender, lymph node metastasis, tumor infiltration, differentiation degree and depth of invasion(P>0.05). The expression of Podoplanin and Twist in tumor cells and vascular tumors had no significant difference(P > 0.05) 。 Conclusion 1.Podoplanin and Twist positive expression rate in tumor tissues was significantly higher than normal tissue. 2.vascular tumor embolus positive and lymph node metastasis positive patients with high expression Podoplanin, its correlation with lymph node metastasis and vascular tumors.3. The expression of Podoplanin has no relationship with patients’ age, sex, tumor infiltration depth,the degree of tumor differentiation.4. Patients with Podoplanin high expression has shorter disease-free surial in significantly. Podoplanin expression can be an important reference index to the prognosis of patients.5. In this experiment Twist expression has no obvious correlation with clinical pathologic features and disease-free survival for patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinomas.
