Background:Prostate cancer is one of the common malignant tumor of the male urogenital system, the incidence is rising at home and abroad. Therefor, the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of prostate cancer are paid more attention.Prostate cancer screening mainly rely on prostate specific antigen (PSA),which is much helpful for the early detection, early diagnosis of prostate cancer. But as a result of urogenital system diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis and various related check on prostate (digital rectal examination, by transrectal ultrasound in the prostate), all of them can cause serum PSA levels elevated. Serum PSA levels do not rise in some early prostate cancer patients. Therefore, prostate cancer screening has certain limitations by serum PSA.In recent years,in order to early diagnosis of prostate cancer,, many tumor markers has been found which closely related to the occurrence, development and prognosis of prostate cancer, but there is still no any single tumor markers can be used in clinical. Objective:To investigate the caveolin-1 immunohistochemical expression in prostate cancer tissue and the relationship with the pathological grade, clinical pathologic staging and the level of preoperative prostatic specific antigen. Methods:Select between January 2012 to December 2014 in Guangxi medical university first affiliated hospital urology hospitalized patients confirmed by TURP and pathology of 47cases of prostate cancer and the 20 cases of hyperplasia of prostate. The expression of caveolin-1 protein was detected by the S-P(streptavidin-pcroxidase) immunhistochemical method, the immunoassay results were analyzed in relation to tumor stage, grade and the level of preoperative prostatic specific antigen. Results:The expression of caveolin-1 in the prostate cancer tissue were obviously higher than those of benign prostatic haperplasia, which had a significant difference (P<0.05). The positive rates of caveolin-1 in poorly differentiated, moderately differentiated and well differentiated prostate cancer were 80.0%、61.11%、22.22%respectively, which also had a significant difference (p<0.05). The positive rates of caveolin-1 in I-II and III-IV state were 46.15%、80.95% respectively, had a significant difference during the different clinical stages(p<0.05). When the preoperative prostatic specific antigen levels of the patients were stratified into three groups,0-10,10-100,>100ug/L,the positive rates of caveolin-1 were 16.67%、68.18%、68.42% respectively, which was no significant difference between the three groups (p>0.05).Conclusions:The high expression of caveolin-1 in the prostate cancer tissues was colsely related to pathological grading and clinical stages Caveolin-1 may be a tumor marker for prostate cancer and has its potential clinical value. The expression of caveolin-1 has nothing to do with preoperative serum PSA, is likely to be an independent index.
