Survey And Evaluation Of A General Hospitat S Patient Safety Culture

Objective:First,we want to built a questionnaire which based on the safety culture questionnaire from aboard and the situation of our hospital;Next,to find out the medical staff ’s patient safety culture status and provide important clues for developing patient safety culture trainning programs.Method: The draft questionnaire with 7 dimensions and 43 items was formed by literature review,actual condition of the hospital and the adverse events report condition. and revised through Delphi Method. The reliability and validity of the scale were tested among 110 medical staff from three departments of our hospital. We modified the questionnaire based on the result of the analysis and opinion of the staff about the adverse events reporting of our hospital,ultimately we determine the patient safety culture questionnaire with 7 dimensions and 53 items.A total of 1583 medical staff involved in this investigation,including doctor, nurse, technologist and pharmacist. We established database with Excel 2010 then do statistical analysis with SPSS 13.0 software.Calculate the average value and agreement percentage of all items.Result: Patient safety culture assessment scale on medical staff was developed which divided into three parts:(1) basic situation of the respondents;(2) 7 dimensions, 53 entries;(3) the suggestion of the patient safety culture of our hospital.The Cronbach,sαcoefficient was 0.87 for the whole questionnaire.And the authority coefficient of the expert is 0.828.Overall,1538 questionnaires were returned,1328 questionnaire were valid with an effective rate of 83.7%.Level of patient safety culture for medical staff in our hospital is general good. A few of dimensions need to be proved. The factors of age,subject,working years and education level have some impact on medical staff,s recognition on the patient safety culture.Conclusion: The patient safety culture assessment scale was established and the data of the investigation can help to formulate the patient safety culture training program of our hospital.
