Objective:This study aims to investigate the cognition,application status and training demands and explore the influence factors of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) nursing of community nurses in Shijiazhuang. To provide reference evidence for training of TCM nursing knowledge and technology to community nurses and promoting TCM nursing services more effectively in Community Health Center.Methods: Questionnaire survey was mainly adopted in the study. The investigation includes five aspects: The general information of community nurses;the TCM nursing knowledge of community nurses; the belief and attitude toward TCM of community nurses; the practice of TCM nursing technology in working among community nurses; the training status and demands of TCM nursing of community nurses. By random sampling method, 208 community nurses who worked in the community health service centre were investigated. The obtained data were put into the software SPSS17.0 for statistical analysis.Results:1 The general information of community nursesBetween the investigated community nurses, most were women(95.2%); the age between 21~30 was most(51%); most community nurses was college degree(72.0%);most title was primary(55.8%);main professional background was western medicine nursing(94.2%);65.4%community nurses had not accepted related training of TCM nursing. The channels of acquiring TCM nursing knowledge were: self-studying health handbook(45.2%); network(38.5%); radio and television(31.7%); journal articles(22.15%); training(21.2%).2 The TCM nursing knowledge and influence factors for community nursesThe mean of the knowledge score toward TCM was 12.68±3.15(total score was 20).The level was medium. The highest score was related knowledge of TCM which was commonly used in daily life; the lowest score was related knowledge of TCM nursing technology which was less used in daily life. The highest degree, title, professional background were important influence factors to the score of TCM nursing knowledge to community nurses.3 The belief and attitude and influence factors toward TCM of community nursesThe mean of the attitude score toward TCM was 40.16±4.41(total score was 50).The level was positive. The higher scores were promoting TCM nursing in community and community nurses should have TCM nursing knowledge; the lower scores were the curative effect of TCM for acute conditions and there was little relation between application of TCM in working with nurses. Training,getting knowledge of TCM from journal articles, getting knowledge of TCM from self-studying health handbook, age were important influence factors to the score of TCM nursing attitude to community nurses.4 The use of TCM nursing technology in working and influence factors among community nursesThe application of TCM nursing knowledge and technology among community nurses are below 33.0%. The level was low. The higher application of TCM nursing knowledge were TCM diet care; observation, listening, interrogation, and pulse-taking; TCM rehabilitation nursing; TCM daily life nursing while TCM critical care nursing; surgery of TCM nursing; TCM gynecological care were the lower.The higher application of TCM nursing technology were scraping therapy; cupping therapy; TCM sticking(plaster); while acupuncture point injection; Chinese medicine ironing apply; Chinese medicine enema were the lower. Training, getting knowledge of TCM from formal training were important influence factors to the score of TCM nursing technology to community nurses.5 The training status and demands of TCM nursing of community nursesBetween the investigated community nurses, most were participating TCM nursing training for 1~3 times(25.0%). 61.1% community nurses were satisfied with the TCM nursing training, and 87.5% of them thought it necessary. 81.7% of the community nurses wanted to participate TCM nursing training. The influence factors of participating TCM nursing training to community nurses were the unit did not arrange(57.7%); have no time(52.9%); problem of funds(27.9%); seats limited(25.0%); less application(21.2); hard to understand and no interest(11.5). 55.3% of the investigated community nurses thought the best way of TCM nursing training was full-time training. 51.0% community nurses hoped the training frequency was six months, and a variety of training methods should be combined. Community nurses hoped the teachers of TCM nursing training were Chinese medicine doctors(45.2%), professional Chinese medicine nursing teachers(38.5), Chinese medicine nurses(25.0%), professional Chinese medicine teachers(19.2%).Conclusion:1 Most community nurses were women; the age between 21~30 was most. Most community nurses was college degree; most title was primary; main professional background was western medicine nursing. The TCM nursing knowledge of community nurses was medium, the use of TCM nursing knowledge and technology was less, but the attitude toward TCM was positive.2 The highest degree, title, professional background were important influence factors to the score of TCM nursing knowledge to community nurses. Training,getting knowledge of TCM from journal articles, getting knowledge of TCM from self-studying health handbook, age were important influence factors to the score of TCM nursing attitude to community nurses. Training, getting knowledge of TCM from formal training were important influence factors to the score of TCM nursing technology to community nurses.3 Most community nurses had not accepted related training of TCM nursing, but the attitude to accepting TCM nursing training was positive. Community nurses thought the best way of TCM nursing training was full-time training, the training frequency was six months, and a variety of training methods should be combined. Community nurses hoped the teachers of TCM nursing training were Chinese medicine doctors, professional Chinese medicine nursing teachers.4 The survey showed that health management organization should strengthen publicity and attention to TCM nursing from all kinds of way, make training plans, and organize the related training of TCM nursing toward community nurses to improve their TCM knowledge and technology, to meet the community residents continued demand for TCM nursing.
