Background:. Since rh BMP-2 was discovered, has been the research focus of bone graft materials, but because of its failure to widely used in clinical, concerning its safety can only stay in the stage of theory discussion. In recent years along with rh BMP-2 are more and more widely used in spinal fusion, adverse events related to BMP reported in clinical is also becoming increasingly common. The common complications included: can cause inflammation and nerve tissuerejection, because of its excessive spinal nerve root compression bone effect and cause, alsoincluding urinary system events, male patients after ALIF osteolysis, and potentialcarcinogenic effects. Its safety problems, many scholars questioned. This article rh BMP-2 in spinal operation in the latest research progress of safety review.progress ofresearch on the security of rh BMP-2 in spinal fusion, to raise awareness of the product related complications, and safety of the clinical application of the understanding and suggestions Objective:The purpose of this study is through the literature review to summarize theMethods: The papers were searched from CNKI, Wan Fang data base, Pubmed and Springerlink with the keywords “Recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2(rh BMP-2);Lumbar fusion;Adverse event; Osteolysis;Retrograde ejaculation ” respectively or combinedly, all the pertinent literatures were classified and generalized by different risk factors. Results : An analysis of relevant literature summary, draw rh BMP-2 can lead to new injury of nerve root, the heterotopic ossification, osteolysis, the retrograde ejaculation and potentially carcinogeniceffect in lumbar fusion. In the cervical spine may also lead to anterior cervical and swallowing difficulties, osteolysis and graft subsidence, migration, hematoma formationConclusion:rh BMP-2 should strictly?limit?its indications in spine?surgery applications, not recommended as a routine use in spinal fusion. Only recommended for those patients with risk of nonunion thanthe use of rh BMP-2 bring...
