MethodPurpose1. Depict "Liver Orifice Theory" between Han-Tang Dynasty and modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine2. Compare the differentiation of "Liver Orifice Theory" between Han-Tang Dynasty and modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine3. Abolish fictional concept of "Liver Orifice Theory" in modern era Traditional Chinese MedicineMethodApplying the Knowledge Archaeological Method to inspect writings in Han-Tang Dynasty and modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine about the object of liver-eye concept; and relationship of the concept between liver and wood. Structure the theoretical system of "liver associated with eyes in orifice" during Han-Tang Dynasty and modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine. Compare the differentiation of "Liver Orifice Theory" during these two eras and review the "Liver Orifice Theory" each from their theoretical system in these two eras.Conclusion1. View from the whole history,<Nei Jing>establish the basic thinking of "Liver Orifice Theory" is a kind of "fictional concept of history" in modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine2. In Han-Tang Dynasty, the relationship between liver and wood is "Eye-Liver-Wood", which means liver is directly related to eye, both of them belong to "Wood" in five elements. Being affected by "Shu Shu" theory in philosophic thinking, "Liver Orifice Theory" system in Han-Tang Dynasty apply meridians and collaterals as centrality, acupuncture treatment as core diagnosis and treatment system, through theories like "correspondence between man and universe", "like attracts like" to build canonical form by using "Eye-Liver-Wood" as basic core to make diagnosis and give treatment for eye diseases. The core thinking of making diagnosis and giving treatment is "liver and eye belong to wood".3. In modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, the relationship between liver and eye is "Eye-Liver-Treatment according to syndrome differentiation", which means liver is indirectly related to eye. Affected by "treatment according to syndrome differentiation" theory, western medicine and other modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine theories, "Liver Orifice Theory" system apply viscera as centrality, medication as core diagnosis and treatment system, build canonical form of "Eye-Liver-Treatment according to syndrome differentiation" as basic core to make diagnosis and give treatment for eye diseases. The core thinking of making diagnosis and giving treatment is "treatment according to syndrome differentiation for eye".4. From the aspect of theory construction, "Liver Orifice Theory" during Qin-Han Dynasty and modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine obviously exists transformation in paradigm. It is mainly reflected by:(a) Difference in target of liver.(b) Difference in target of eye.(c) Different relationship between concepts of liver and eye(d) Difference in mainstream treatment.(e) Different thinking in making diagnosis and giving treatment.5. Analyse from the aspect of theory construction, reasons causing "Liver Orifice Theory" during Qin-Han Dynasty and modern era Traditional Chinese Medicine obviously exists transformation in paradigm are:(a) In Han-Tang dynasty "Liver Orifice Theory" become mainstream, due to the power of politic.(b) Advance modern science and technology makes progress in eye anatomy, physiology, pathology etc.(c) Doctrine of sthenia cause "Liver Orifice Theory" to have canonical form of revolution.
