Background:Tourette’s syndrome (Gilles de la Tourette’s syndrome TS) is a relatively common neurological disease in children.Its pathogenesis has not been fully understood.In recent years, the researchers study it from the brain cognitive function, and much think that there are varying degrees of cognitive dysfunction in children with TS. To discuss the relationship between cognitive function and TS has become one of the concerned topics currently. Traditional evaluation of children’s cognitive function commonly used clinical examination and neuropsychological testing, but they cast too much time and affected by the culture degree and the subjective interpretation of subjects, more difficult to evaluate the cognitive function accurately and objectively. Event related potential(ERP) P300 detection with short test time, easy to accept, no need talking and actions and so on. As an objective, noninvasive and repeatable electrophysiological index, it provides an objective and feasible test method to evaluate the cognitive function.But the mechanism of the event related potential P300 is unclear, and the evalution function also need large sample randomized, double-blind controlled study.Objective:Research the different characteristics of brain auditory event related potential P300 of TS,and then evaluate the cognitive function of children.After comprehensive treatment,further testing of the brain auditory ERP P300 and cognitive functions are consistent, to investigate the neural mechanisms of TS, and to explore cognitive function assessment to provide objective reference.Methods:There are 28 cases of children with TS,25 cases of children with epilepsy and 30 cases of normal control group, which chose from the hospital of laiwu steel corporation.To detect ERP P300 peak-latency and amplitude.Detect ERP P300 peak-latency and amplitude after comprehensive treatment.Result:1.The latency in groups of TS and epilepsy without treating are longer than that of normal control group, and amplitude are lower.2.The latency is longer and amplitude are lower of TS than that of epilepsy group(P<0.05),has significant statistical difference.3. The clinical curative effect comparison within each group:There are significantly improvement after treatment of children with TS or epilepsy(P<0.05), has significant statistical difference.Group of TS improves even more obvious than the epilepsy group(P<0.05), has significant statistical difference.Conclusion:1. The ERP P300 can be used to evaluat the cognitive dysfunction objectively and authenticly,and as evaluation or treatment effect monitoring indicators in children with TS.2. The children with TS or epilepsy all have cognitive dysfunction,and it is more serious of TS.3. After the comprehensive treatment, cognitive dysfunction are improved to varying degrees in the TS and epilepsy group.And the improvement are more obvious.
