ObjectiveIn this study, we adopted questionnaire survey method to explore the characteristics of the aggression, family environment and parenting style of the amphetamine type stimulants(ATS) addicts and the relationship among the ATS addicts’ aggressive behaviors, family environment and parenting style. And according to the conclusion, providing some advices to the related apart-ment and the clinical psychological workers for reference.MethodsAt the earlier stage, understanding the general research situation of ATS abuse, aggression, and family environment and parenting style by literature analysis. Then we tested 138 ATS addicts and 139 healthy controls to measure their aggression, different style of families characteristics, parental attitudes and behavior by Chinese version of Buss & Perry aggression question-naire, family environment scale-Chinese version and Egma Minnen av Bardndos-nauppforstran.All data is analyzed by the statistic software of SPSS17.0, including descriptives, variance analysis, correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis.Results(1)The marital status, occupations, education, father’s education, par-ents’occupation, the average age lived with parent are significant differences between ATS addicts and the control group (P<0.001).(2)The relapse rate of ATS addicts is 63.8%,50.7% abuser is aged at 13-23 for the first time using drugs,63% is accounted for drugs cumulative time at 1-5 years. The number of crime is increased after abusing.(3)Compared to the control group, The ATS addicts’family shows higher conflict, active-recreational orientation and achievement orientation(P< 0.01 or 0.05), however, lower independence (P<0.001). Compared to national norm,ATS addicts’family shows lower cohesion, expressiveness, independence, achievement orientation, intellectual-cultural orientation, Activerecrea-tional and organization (P<0.001), however, higher conflict, control and moral-religious emphasis (P<0.001).(4) ATS addicts feel less emotional warmth, understanding, rejection but much more punishment, strictness, preference and over protection from their father(P< 0.001 or 0.05).They feel less emotional warmth, understanding but much more excessive interference, over-protective, rejection,punishment and preference from their mother (P<0.001).(5)ATS addicts got higher aggression than the healthy controls (P< 0.001).And whether they are single-child, different cultural degree, replase or not, parents’marital status, mothers’cultural degree affected their aggression and all kinds aggressive behavior(P<0.001 or 0.05).(6)Cohesion in the ATS addicts’family is negative correlate with their aggression, physical aggression, anger and hostility(P<0.001 or 0.05), and the expressiveness is negative correlate with anger (P<0.05). Conflict is significant negative correlate with physical aggression, but positive correlate with aggression, hostility, verbal aggression(P<0.001 or 0.05). Ach-ievement orientation is positive correlate with aggression, physical aggression, anger and hostility but negative correlate with verbal aggression (P<0.05).(7)Parents’strictness, punishment, excessive interference, rejection and deny are positive correlate with all kinds of aggressive behavior of ATS addicts (P<0.01). Father’s over protection is positive correlate with ATS addicts’aggression and physical aggression(P< 0.05 or 0.01). Mother’s preference is positive correlate with ATS addicts’aggression, anger and self-aggression (P<0.05).(8)The strictness and punishment by father, the rejection, deny, preference and conflict, cohension by mother can predict ATS addicts; aggression (P< 0.001, R2=0.284). Cohesion, conflict and father’s excessive interference can predicts ATS addicts’anger (P<0.001, R2=0.145). Mother’s punishment, strict-ness, cohesion and conflict can predict ATS addicts’hostility(P<0.001, R2=0.200).Father’s strictness, punishment and conflict can predict ATS addicts’verbal aggression(P<0.001, R2=0.170). Father’s rejection and deny can predict ATS addicts’self-aggression(P<0.001, R2=0.100).ConclusionFirstly, most of the ATS addicts are young, low educated and non-only-child men who lived for doing business in city. And the age is low when they began to abuse drugs. Most of them have abused drugs for one to five years and the crime is increasing after abused. Secondly, their family shows high conflict, achievement orientation, active-recreational orientation, control, moral-religious emphasis. And low independence, cohension, ecpressiveness, intellectual-cultural orientation and organization. Thirdly, there is something wrong with the ATS addicts’parenting style. They felt less emotional warmth and understanding but more punishment, stictness, excessive interference, preference from their parents and mothers’rejection. Lastly, the aggression of the ATS addicts’is higher than the healthy people. There are correlation between the aggression and their family environment and parenting style. Part of the family and parenting style can predict the ATS addicts’aggression and different kinds of aggressive behavior. |
