Objective: the main purpose of this study was to investigate the association of PHN’s plasma mi RNA-206 level with chronic pain as well as its mechanism using bioinformatics tools.Methods:30 post-herpetic neuralgia neuralgia(PHN) patients from the Department of Pain in Luzhou Medical School affiliated traditional Chinese medical hospital and 30 healthy controls from the medical examination center in the same hospital were included between June, 2013 and June, 2014. All subjects were divided into PHN group(group A) and control group(group B). Visual analogue scale(VAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) and Short-form of Mc Gill pain questionnaire(SF-MPQ) were assessed twice, i.e. pre-treatment and the 7th day after treatment, for group A, and their plasma mi RNA-206 expression level was measured using real-time PCR(each repeated 3 times); the plasma mi RNA-206 level was measured once for group B using real-time PCR(each repeated 3 times).Results:(1)Plasma expression of micro RNA-206 was significantly elevated in PHN patients before treatment compared to normal controls(P<0.05);(2) Plasma expression of micro RNA-206 was significantly reduced after treatment in PHN patients(P<0.05);(3) VAS score was significantly decreased after treatment in PHN patients( P<0.05);(4)SF-MPQ score was significantly decreased after treatment in PHN patients( P<0.05);(5)SDS score was significantly decreased after treatment in PHN patients(P<0.05).Conclusions:(1) Plasma expression of mi RNA-206 was elevated in PHN patients.Expression of mi RNA-206 was significantly decreased after treatment, but it still significantly exceed the normal controls;(2)With the pain relief, VAS score 、 SDS score and SF-MPQ score would be decline.
