"the Office")Methodology:Based on the characteristics of the Trachoma morbidity in Gansu province, the Office selected three towns which are suspected to have high incidence of Trachoma. The three places are Tange town of Wushan county, Xiqu town of Minqin county as well as Hulinjia town of Jishishan county. In October of 2013, the Office made a survey in the three towns in order to make fast assessment on Trachoma.150 pupils with the age ranging from 5 to 10 were involved, including 72 boys and 78 girls. The average age was 7.5. In August of 2014, two surveys on the incidence of Trachomatous Trichiasis and Corneal Opacity were made in Wushan and Jishishan counties. The surveys engaged 391,496 adults with the age above 15. These surveys were supported by the Trachoma Simplified Classification System which is recommended by WHO.Result: â‘ There were no cases of active Trachoma, Trachoma Trichiasis and Corneal Opacity found among the 150 pupils. â‘¡The adult Trachoma morbidity of Wushan county is 0.051%, and 0.031% in Jishishan county. â‘¢ Among which 0.033% for males and 0.068% for females in Wushan county, while 0.017% for males and 0.046% for females in Jishishan county. Conclusion:â‘ Blinding Trachoma is no longer a public health issue in Gansu province.â‘¡ The incidence of Trachoma for adults in Gansu province is low.â‘¢ The incidence for female adults is higher than that for male adults in rural areas of Gansu province.â‘£ All levels of Health care institutions should strengthen their contributions on disease prevention and control, should further highlight the dissemination of Trachoma prevention as well as Trachoma monitoring and control. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | trachoma, prevalence rate, diagnosis, treatment, children, adult | | Related items |
