Methods:Trachoma Rapid Assessment (TRA) was conducted according to the World HealthOrganization guideline in6sub-districts,which were selected from Shandong Provincebased on primary high risk assessment. Active trachoma for children aged1-9years andenvironmental risk factors for trachoma (unclean faces, absence of running water, absenceof water flushing toilets) were assessed (TRA1). Then take control measures in trachomaprevalence areas. A second TRA (TRA2) was conducted after in the same6districts.Findings were compared between assessments. Results: Trochoma was found in3sub-districts, in which the prevalence was4%(95%CI:0.39-11.12%),6%(95%CI:1.18-14.17%),6%(95%CI:1.18-14.17%). No trichiasis case was found. Children livingwith environmental risk factors were at an increased risk to active trachoma. Conclusion:The TRA methodology according to the World Health Organization guidelines is easy toassess the prevalence of trachoma and its related risk factors.
