Objective To explore the variation of plasma D-dimer level in patients with severe head injuryas well as its relationship with the prognosis. Methods The D-dimer level of48patients with head injury admitted from January2012toDecember2013in General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University were tested and analyzed atdifferent time points after hospital admission. Results The level of D-dimer increased in all patients on the day of admission, peaked on the3rd day and began to decrease on the7th day. The higher D-dimer level and the slowerdecreasing rate of seven days was, the worse prognosis could be observed; in contrast, the lowerD-dimer level and higher of the decreasing rate of seven days was, the better prognosis could beobserved. Conclusions D-dimer level is closely related to the prognosis of patients with severe headinjury, which can be deemed as clinical judgment of laboratory indicator of prognosis.
