Objective: To evaluate the efforts and security of inside-outside tension-free vaginal tapeobturator(TVT-O) and to investigate the impact of TVT-O procedure on quality of sexuallife of female patients with stress urinary incontinence(SUI) and their sexual partners aswell.Patients and methods: This study included144female patients treated with TVT-O from2008to2013in our hospital. The patients were evaluated with4questionnaires includingInternational Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICI-Q-SF),Symptom Checklist90(SCL-90), Female Sexual Function Index(FSFI),5-item InternationalIndex of Erectile Function (IIEF-5). Statistical Methods were performed to determine thedifference of scores.Results:1.The effective rate of TVT-O are98.6%. Meanwhile the incidence of the mostcommon complications are very low.2. We found significant difference in the improvement of depression,anxiety,especially inrelationships,3.In144patients,52patients(36.1%) with SUI reported that they do not have sexualactivity preoperatively and postoperatively.No significant difference was found both intotal and5domains in FSFI in92patients (63.9%) who have sexual activitypreoperatively and postoperatively besides the satisfaction of sexual activity.4.No significant difference was found both in total and4domains in IIEF-5besides the satisfaction of sexual activity.Conclusions:1.TVT-O surgery is safe and efficient for treating females with SUI.2.TVT-O surgery can improve the psychological symptom caused by SUI and the qualityof life after surgery.3.TVT-O surgery won’t impair sexual function for patients and their sexualpartners.However the satisfaction of sexual activity may be improved by solving theurinary leakage problem before TVT-O surgery.
