Objective The elderly Metabolic Syndrome (Metabolic Syndrome, MS) in patientswith Resting heart rate (Resting heart rate, RHR) and the relationship between carotidatherosclerosis lesions. Methods This study collected collected in April2008-October2013in our hospital orhospital286cases of elderly patients with metabolic syndrome, male147cases, female139cases, aged60to82years, mean (67.61±644) years of age. Resting heart rateaccording to different levels of grouping:<70beats/min for the RHR1group, a total165cases,86cases were male, female79cases;70beats/min≤RHR <85beats/min forthe RHR2group group of62cases, of which30males,32females; RHR≥85beats/min for the RHR3group, a total of59cases, including28males and31females. Forselected patients with the following tests: ECG, blood biochemistry full term, head andneck artery ultrasound and other tests. And collecting patient sex, age, smoking, alcohol, infections, heart disease and other information. Using SPSS17.0software for statisticalanalysis of all the data. Continuous variables are expressed as mean and standarddeviation () said, in line with the normal distribution of continuous data between the twogroups were compared using t tests, analysis of variance was used to compare multiplegroups, pairwise comparisons among groups using LSD method was used to compare thedata classification χ2test, multivariate logistic regression analysis was applied tocalculate in elderly patients with MS-related risk factors. Comparison between groups: P<0.05was considered statistically significant; P <0.001was highly statistically significant.Result1between different waist circumference, BMI, triglycerides (TG), totalcholesterol (TC), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), DBP and SBP between RHR3group and RHR1, RHR2group was statisticallydifference (P<0.05). Different groups of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),age,creatinine(Cr) differences between the groups has no statistical significance (P>0.05).Different groups of hypertension, diabetes prevalence difference between groups wasstatistically significant (P<0.05); While smoking and drinking in between groups have nostatistical significance (P>0.05);2In the286cases included in the analysis of theobserved object, between different groups in different proportions prevalence of carotid atherosclerosis, resting heart rate, the faster the higher the prevalence of carotidatherosclerosis group proportion; over3Logistic regression analysis showed that, afteradjusting after the impact of the above factors, further explanation and neck resting heartrate is closely related to the occurrence of atherosclerosis. RHR stratified by frequencyafter less than85beats/min for the RHR1groups, greater than or equal to85beats/minfor RHR2groups. The results show that stratified by the RHR, and RHR <patients85beats/min compared to when the RHR≥85beats/min, the corresponding increase inthe risk of carotid atherosclerosis.Conclusions1With the increase of resting heart rate frequency, MS patients significantlyincreased incidence of carotid atherosclerosis.2RHR faster and old age is closely relatedto the incidence of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with MS.
