Penis Index And The Application In The Diagnosis And Treatment On Concealed Penis

Background：The Disorder Exposed of Penis in Children is a group of diseases ofpenis cannot be exposed at all or not exposed entirely. Concealed Penis isincluded in this group of diseases. So far, there is no one objectiveindicator on the diagnosis of the Disorder Exposed of Penis. During dailymedical work, doctors often determine concealed penis or phimosisdepend on their own subjective cognition.The subject of this article is to find objective indicators on thediagnosis of the Disorder Exposed of Penis, which is based on statisticsand analysis. Furthermore, the indication could be used on clinical ofgiving a diagnosis on concealed penis and guiding on choosing surgicalprocedure as well as evaluating of efficacy.Methods：This article collected55children(Group B, Control group, Aged2.5yrs~14yrs) accepting Circumcision with day-surgery, additionally,another58children(Group A, Experimental group, Aged2yrs~13.3yrs)accepting phalloplasty as inpatients.These two groups are both selected by Attending or above, in whichhypospadias, epispadias, webbed penis or tinny penis are all excluded.These two groups of individuals are preoperative measured on theirpenises and then obtained data. Result：The Penis Index (PI) of Group A vary within the range of0~0.760,with an average value of0.386. while Group B ranged in0.478~1.0,mean0.852. The two mean values are tested in t test, p is close to0,Namely, P<0.001, there was a significant difference.Conclusion：According to the study above, we find the Penis Index (PI) of concealedpenis is significantly less than that of phimosis (P≤0.001).Therefor,PI=0.5could be determined as a critical value between concealed penisand phimosis. Scilicet that, PI≥0.5indicating phimosis, whereas PI <0.5indicating concealed penis.
