Objective:To investigate the nutritional status of Han and Uygur Children in Xinjiang Provence, and to provide basis for intervention pertinently.Methods:A samples aged0-17years were used to analyze the prevalence of nutritional status in children of Han and Uygur from3localities(Hetian locality, Kashi locality,Fuhai) in Xinjiang according to different nationality,age and sex. The data were collected according to questionnaire,and the physical examination and the laboratory test were performed.Result:The prevalence of stunting(Height for Age Z-score<-2),underweight (Weight for Age Z-score<-2) and wasting(Weight for Height Z-score<-2) were18.3%,19.2%and8.1%, respectively. The prevalence rates of the Uygur children were higher than those of the Han Nationality children.The prevalence of overweight and obesity were1.4%and0.8%.Conclusion:There are serious nutritional problems in the children in the areas of Xinjiang Autonomous Region. It is important to promote education of nutrition and control the common diseases for children. In addition, it should be noticed that an intervention is required for the nutritional status of the entire children.
