Risk Of Venous Thromboembolism In Patients With Cancer Treated With Carboplatin:a Meta-Analysis

Objective:To investigate the incidence and risk of Venous Thromboembolism events (VTEs) associated with carboplatin-based chemotherapy of advanced solid tumors. Methods:Database including Pubmed,EMbase,Web of Science,CBM,CNKI and WangFang Data were searched from January1,1990to December31,2013,and the relevant references were also retrieved to collect relevant studies.Two reviewer independently Screened literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,and evaluated the quality of the included studies.Data analyses were performed with The RevMan5.2software.Results:(1)A total of4863patients with various advanced solid tumors from20randomized controlled trials were included. The meta-analysis show that it has no dependencies between carboplatin and the risk of VTEs in patients with advanced solid tumors[RR=0.48,95%CI(0.26,0.90)].(2)Subgroup analysis:According to tumor types, different groups are I2<50%by using the fixed effects model analysis, the results indicated that it has no dependencies between carboplatin and the risk of VTEs in patients with advanced solid tumors[RR=0.48,95%CI(0.25,0.94)].According to the different groups are clinical trials in installment,I2<50%by using the fixed effects model, the results indicated that it has no dependencies between carboplatin and the risk of VTEs in patients with advanced solid tumors [RR=0.44,95%CI(0.21,0.91)]. The results of sensitivity analysis to verify stability.Conclusion:Carboplatin is no associated with a significant increase in the risk of VTEs in patients with advanced solid tumors when compared with non-carboplatin-based chemotherapy.However, further prospective randomized controlled trials in advanced solid tumors is needed to verify the findings in this study.
