Purpose: Hepatitis B virus infection is an important global publichealth issue. From the World Health Organization statistics in2008: it isestimated that more than350million are chronic carriers of HBV; between500,000and700,000patients around the world die annually because ofHBV-related diseases. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressivehuman cancers, and the pathogenic factor has not been identified. In thisstudy, we analyzed the relation between HBV infection and risk ofpancreatic cancer.Method: Searched PUBMED, Web of knowledge, EMBASE,Cohchrane and several other databases. Included case-control study betweenHBV infection and pancreatic cancer. Utilizing RevMan5.0conductinganalysis through fixed-effect model and random model on six studies thatmeet our inclusion criteria.Result: The study shows that compared with the group of heath control, the group of pancreatic cancer has a higher rate of hepatitis B surface antigenpositive (8.87%vs5.86%, OR=1.24,95%CI=1.06-1.47, P=0.009), and alower rate of hepatitis B surface antigen negative and hepatitis B center antibody negative (69.4%vs77.1%, OR=0.68,95%CI=0.51-0.92, P=0.01),the rate of HBeAg positive has no significance in statistics(P=0.55>0.05).Conclution: Hepatitis B virus infection especially HBsAg-positive,can increase the risk of pancreatic cancer.
