Objective: To investigate gerontism inpatients’ conditions and thecomponent ratio of their disease entities in the dermatology and venerologydepartment of The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing medical universityfrom January2011to April2013.Methods:Carry a retrospective analysis on gerontism inpatients whowas60years old or older than that of the dermatology and venerologydepartment of The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing medical universityfrom January2011to April2013. A retrospective study was performed for1094elderly patients and analyzed the clinical characteristics of these skindiseases. Compared their conditions and the component ratio of their diseaseentities with middle-aged inpatients from45to59years old. The SPSS19.0statistics software was used to analyze all the final data. The statisticalmethod was χ2test of paired comparison of enumeration data. Thediscrepancy was considered of statistical significance when P<0.05.Results:All the1094gerontism inpatients account for39.85%of allthe inpatients of the dermatology and venereology department in The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing medical university in the last3years. Themale to female ratio was1.42:1. The most common diseases causinggerontism patients hospitalized were herpes zoster(21.39%), followed byeczema(10.69%), nonspecific dermatitis(8.32%), psoriasis(5.03%),contact dermatitis (4.11%). There into, chronic actinic dermatitis, erythroderma, eosinophilia, psoriasis are more common in male whiledermatomyositis, squamous cell carcinoma, anaphylactoid purpura, urticaria are more seen in female. Gerontism patients’ incidence of gettingbullous pemphigoid, pruritus, chronic actinic dermatitis, herpes zoster are8.4,5.0,5.0, and1.5times higher than middle-aged patients.15.17%of thepatients have two kinds of diseases at the same time, among which the mostcommon one is allergic disease(3.11%),followed by fungal infection(2.92%),etc. About59.94%elderly patients have at least one underlyingdiseases. The most frequent accompanying underlying diseases found werehypertension(24.59%), followed by diabetes mellitus(12.98%), othercerebrovascular disease(4.39%), and respiratory disease(3.30%).Conclusions: Dermatoses are not rare in gerontism patients. Theincidence of different diseases are different due to age difference. Thecomponent ratio and related research results partly tally with other domesticreports.
