Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of vagina partially closed surgery in treatment of severe pelvic organ prolapse in selected elderly patients.Methods:Collection xinjiang Medical university Hospital gynecology in hospital in June2012to August2013,12cases of elderly patients,with severe pelvic organ prolapse transvaginal partial closure of the treatment of patients.patients using the International Continence Society in1996(International Continence Society, ICS)announced that pelvic organ prolapse quantitative method (Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantitive Examination, POP-Q), are III-IV of the average age of75.7±3.1years(71-81years). of which9patients(75%), accompanied by medical complications. Among12patients,9cases of uterine prolapse, prolapse of vaginal stump after hysterectomy2cases, the anterior vaginal wall prolapse,4cases of posterior vaginal wall prolapse three cases. Merge dysuria in12cases(100%), difficulty in defecation in8cases(67%), stress urinary incontinence in7cases(58%). Anatomic and functional effects were assessed at follow up. Results:12patients, mean operative time Was127.54±61.4min(60-180)min and the average intraoperative blood loss was116±77.8ml(50-300)ml, Vice injury and death in patients with intraoperative. No intraoperative injury and post-operative mortality occurred.12cases of patients with defecation difficulties and stress urinary incontinence caught improved, The majority of bothersome bowel and urinary symptoms presented at baseline were resolved. None of the patients had anatomic prolapse recurrence during the median fallow-up of3months(1-10months).A telephone interview performed after a median of15months(2-39months)showed satisfaction with the operation and subjective cure in all of cases.Conclusion:Colpocleisis could relieve prolapse and pelvic symptoms in most patients. Colpocleisis represents a safe, economic and effective treatment for severe POP in selected elderly patients with satisfactory outcomes.
